Region VII Republican BBQ at Tautphaus Park

For over 40 years, the Region VII Republicans have hosted an annual barbecue as a means of bringing together the public, the corporate community, and political officials in support of the Republican Party.  This year the event will be held at the Tautphaus Park Hockey shelter in Idaho Falls on Thursday, August 28th, beginning at 6pm.

The BBQ dinner is served by our elected officials in appreciation of your support of their service and the Republican Party.

As a special guest speaker, we’ll hear from Matt Kibbe, an economist and well-respected policy expert, best-selling author, and President of Freedomworks, a conservative and libertarian lobbying group in Washington, DC.

Tickets are $30 in advance, $35 at the door.  You can get them from your Republican Precinct Committee Officer, or contact Bob Dansie at 3456 E 17th Street, Suite 185 in Idaho Falls.

We appreciate the support of the generous sponsors of this event.

Here’s a flyer that summarizes the night’s activities:

Idaho Falls Runoff Election

Because none of the candidates for the Idaho Falls City Council seats reached the 50% mark, there will now be a runoff election between the top two vote-recipients to be held on December 3rd.

No matter what happens, the Idaho Falls Council will see its most drastic change in more than two decades. The question is whether it will change for the better. The candidates are starkly different in their positions on a variety of issues. Voters must research them to determine whether their views mirror their own and lead in the direction of better governance for the city.

Below are some key differentiations.

if runoff

  • Read 17 Republican-bashing opinion pieces by Ed Marohn HERE.
  • See more about “Drinking Liberally” HERE.
  • See the candidate questionnaire responses HERE.

In runoff elections, turnout is egregiously low, and the result of the race could be drastically different based on who gets to the polls.  If you feel strongly, you must act in these ways.

  1. VOTE: Early Voting starts on the 18th at the Bonneville County Courthouse.  You can order an absentee ballot here.  Or you can go to your polling place on Dec 3rd. (You can vote in the runoff even if you didn’t vote in November).
  2. TELL EVERYONE YOU KNOW: We have to get others to the polls to make their voices heard.  Post your opinions or this link on Facebook, or forward it by email.

Please act today and act aggressively to ensure that the principles you believe in have their place in municipal government.

Idaho Falls and Ammon Municipal Candidate Questionnaire Responses

In an effort to foster an informed populace and infuse the debate with issues of philosophical substance, we asked some definitive questions of each of the contested candidates for municipal office.  Our objective was to derive principles and priorities and to gauge each candidate’s ideology, capability, and rationality.
