It’s not dead, but if we can’t get the language right, we might have to wait for another year,” Loertscher said.

And the castle doctrine bill has “glaring problems” in the language that would make it an inadvertent “giant step backwards” for gun rights in Idaho, Loertscher said.

“Those sound like interesting issues that deserve a hearing,” Fuller said.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Bonneville County Republican Central Committee publicly supports and thanks Representative Ron Nate (District-34) for his service to his constituents in Bonneville County and all Idahoans everywhere; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Bonneville County Republican Central Committee invites and encourages all legislative representatives, and particularly those with precincts in Bonneville County, Jeff Thompson (District 30-A), Wendy Horman (District 30-B), Mark Gibbs (District 32-A), Tom Loertscher (District 32-B), Janet Trujillo (District 33-A), Bryan Zollinger (District 33-B), and Del Raybould (34-B), to follow the example of Representative Ron Nate (District 34-A) in his service in the Idaho Legislature.

WHEREAS, Representative Tom Loertscher (District 32-B) has precincts in Bonneville County that he represents in the Idaho legislature;

WHEREAS, Representative Tom Loertscher (District 32-B) is a registered Republican who lives in Bonneville County;

WHEREAS, Representative Tom Loertscher (District 32-B) as the Chairman of the State Affairs Committee has the discretion and decision making authority regarding which bills to present to the committee for hearing;

WHEREAS, there are currently two bills assigned to the State Affairs Committee dealing with the inalienable rights of individuals to exercise their 2nd Amendment Rights under the United States Constitution and Article 1 of the Idaho State Constitution

WHEREAS, these two bills are known as the “Castle Doctrine” bill (RS25085C1) and “Concealed Carry Residency” bill (RS24941);

WHEREAS, these two bills to date have not been given a hearing before the State Affairs Committee for which Representative Tom Loertscher (District 32B) is the Committee Chairman;

WHEREAS, the Bonneville County Republican Central Committee is well informed on the nature of these two bills and desires them passed this session by the legislature, signed by the Governor, and enacted as the law of the State of Idaho; and

WHEREAS, these two bills have hit a stumbling block in the State Affairs Committee having not seen the light of day for a hearing that Chairman Loertscher could easily remedy if he were so inclined;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Bonneville County Republican Central Committee requests, encourages, solicits, and urges, in the strongest terms possible, that Representative Tom Loertscher (District 32-B), Chairman of the State Affairs Committee, immediately provide a hearing before the State Affairs Committee on both bills known as the Castle Doctrine bill and Concealed Carry Residency bill.
